Dromod Harbour, Co. Leitrim

Dromod is a charming town situated in County Leitrim on the banks of the interconnected Lough Boderg (also known as the Lake of the Red Cow) and Lough Bofin (or the Lake of the White Cow). Cox’s Steakhouse: Steakhouse, Bar and Restaurant located in the heart of the village of Dromod. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Steak sandwich is highly recommended!

The Brandywell Bar: Lovely décor, great staff, very tasty, well presented food. A relaxing experience.

The Copper Still: Great home cooking with traditional Irish meals. Lovely staff and local’s favourite.

Harkins Cafe – Wonderful home baking and hot meals, tea, coffee and gorgeous cakes

The Oarsman, Carrick on Shannon: Excellent food, foodie favourite.

The Cottage Restaurant, Jamestown: A wonderful dining experience for foodies. Make sure to book in advance as it is a very in demand restaurant.

The Purple Onion, Tarmonbarry: Brilliant for foodies. Excellent food and location. Worth booking. The Toblerone cheesecake is highly recommended!

Keenan’s Bar and Restaurant, Tarmonbarry: Wide range of delicious food choice in a great location.

Getting around Dromod

Local Transport:
Train:
Dromod train station is very conveniently located 500 meters from the air bnb. Simply walk to the entrance of the estate and turn right and it is located over the bridge on the left-hand side.

Train times can be found by searching on Google Maps or on the GetThere.ie website. Tickets can be purchased online or at the machine at the station. Best to. Book online as cheaper and the machine may be closed!

The train goes about 7 times per day each way. Stops on the route include Drumcondra, Castleknock, Leixlip, Maynooth, Mullingar, Longford, Carrick on Shannon, Boyle, Ballymote and Sligo.

Bus:
Dromod bus stop is located in the middle of the village, a convenient seven-minute walk from the air bnb. Bus tickets can be purchased online (usually a cheaper option) or from the bus driver.

• Stop 555981 (on the same side of the road as Cox’s Steakhouse) when entered into Google Maps this will bring you directly to the Dromod to Sligo bus stop.

• Stop 556321 will bring you the opposite direction towards Dublin.

Zipit Forest Adventures, Lough Key, Forest Park, Boyle: treetop, high ropes forest adventure park with a difference.

Paintballing – Leitrim Adventure, Carrick on Shannon: Dodge paint bullets, try to gun down the enemy and eliminate the opposition on a purposely designed fun course located 5 minutes’ drive from Carrick on Shannon.

Arigna Mining Experience, Derreenavoggy, Carrick on Shannon: light and sound enhanced tours of an underground coal mine plus a geology and history exhibition. Walks:

Derrycarne Wood – peaceful and off the beaten track easy forest walk

Rooskey Lock Walk – scenic walk along the banks of the River Shannon
